You know when you will be fired for doing something wrong
You always can find out how well the business is going so that you can look for another job before the business closes
You never have an argument with the boss.
Seriously though, being your own boss should be something you look at every day whether someone else pays your salary or you work for yourself.
Being your own boss means being in control of your future.
It means doing your best each and every day,
It means knowing that what you do each day can make a difference for your clients.
Being a boss is a state of mind.
A state of mind that says I make the decisions on my life and future earnings. Bosses sometimes have more problems but generally their problems occur because they forget that they need to keep learning to stay in control and make things happen.
One of the reasons I wrote Eat the Rhino, Business Idea to Business Plan in 30 bites, is because the basics of what any boss needs to know about business there. Business is a process and to be a boss, you must commit to the process.
Being in business is like following a recipe and continually trying new ingredients. Finding and tempting new clients with new flavours. Doing something different.
And the true advantage for the boss is the joy of creation, the stimulation of an active brain and the emotional feeling when things work.
Life is a journey. Someone else always pays you for your efforts so get out there and be your own boss and understand that even when you work in a job, you trade your time for money.
